EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Texas A&M's Board of Regents approved three projects totaling more than $269 million on Thursday to boost campus facilities in College Station. The Eagle
- ➤ At the Texas A&M system board meeting on Thursday, Feb. 5, regents responded to opponents of a policy restricting core curriculum topics at 12 universities. Each university will review courses and send recommendations before final action later this year. WTAW
- ➤ During its Friday meeting, the A&M Board of Regents reviewed the university’s competitive admissions process with chief enrollment officer Chris Reed. The presentation explained that applications open Aug. 1 with decisions made from October through mid-February and included data on test scores and acceptance. My Aggie Nation
- ➤ Texas A&M was named the top research university in Texas by the National Science Foundation on Friday—its $1.39 billion in R&D spending outpaced peers in the SEC and statewide, ranking 22nd among 681 institutions nationally. My Aggie Nation

- ➤ Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko announced Bryant Gross-Armiento as cornerbacks coach — he previously served as the nickels coach and helped improve the Aggies’ passing defense ranking. WTAW
- ➤ Gracie Casebolt of the Texas A&M & Equestrian team has been named SEC Reining rider of the month for January after scoring 71 on Tank in the Aggies’ 13 to 6 win over No. 3 South Carolina; she returns to action today at 11 a.m. vs No. 2 Georgia. WTAW
- ➤ Former Texas A&M standout Myles A&M Garrett was named NFL Defensive Player of the Year for the second time at the NFL Honors show held at the Palace of the Fine Arts during Super Bowl 60 festivities. Garrett set several records this season, reinforcing his legacy in the league. WTAW
- ➤ Three Texas A&M baseball players were chosen Thursday for the 2026 Preseason All-SEC Team (first baseman Gavin Grahovac and outfielder Caden Sorrell on the first team, and reliever Clayton Freshcorn on the second team). They open on Friday, Feb. 13 at 6 p.m. against Tennessee Tech at Olsen Field. WTAW
- ➤ Texas A&M softball overcame ACU 8-0 in six innings and then Utah State 9-1 in five innings at Davis Diamond on Thursday. The team recorded its sixth consecutive season-opening run-rule win. WTAW
