COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Texas A&M swimmers Halina Panczyszn and Logan Brown were named to the 2026 SEC Community Service Team on Monday for their work in swimming and diving. They boost local service through Revved Up To Read (a program that promotes literacy) and food drives in the Bryan community.  WTAW

CULTURE NEWS

  • Last weekend the Museum of the American G.I. hosted a Revolutionary War induction camp event that let visitors step into early military history in an immersive setting (a shift from its typical 20th-century exhibits) at the museum.  The Eagle

EDUCATION NEWS

  • At its Feb. 2 meeting, the Bryan ISD board approved spending over $141,000 on new steamers, warmers and coolers for five school kitchens at Crockett, Henderson, Bowen, Mitchell elementaries and Stephen F. Austin middle. Assistant school nutrition director Sandra Baxter said bids were evaluated solely on price and equipment suitability.  WTAW

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • College Station city council backed a resolution letting an Ohio developer seek state tax credits to build 60 low-income rental units off Harvey Mitchell Parkway (just east of Texas); the developer expects a decision in July and plans to break ground next January with completion by year-end 2028.  WTAW

SPORTS NEWS

  • Texas A&M outfielder Caden Sorrell earned SEC Player of the Week recognition Monday after registering nine hits, including three home runs, in 15 at-bats over weekend games; he posted a .600 average as his team began an eight-game homestand.  WTAW
  • The No. 24 Texas A&M baseball team will welcome Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Tuesday at Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park with first pitch at 6 p.m. The game will be broadcast on SECN+ and on local radio 1150AM/93.7FM.  WTAW
  • On Monday, Texas A&M’s Vanessa Borovilos shot a 4-under 68 at the Moon Golf Invitational and took solo first while the Aggies scored 1-under 287 & held a three-shot cushion over Auburn. The team competed for their fifth title in Tuesday’s final round.  WTAW
