COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Jesse Ocana, owner of Jesse’s Taqueria & Bakery, was honored with a Community Impact Award from the Bryan-College Station Chamber of Commerce for decades of dedicated service to local residents.  The Eagle

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Texas A&M honored strength coach Tommy Moffitt as ITL Power 4 coach of the year, recognizing his work in improving team training. On Feb. 5, the system board raised fees for some study abroad courses while keeping undergraduate tuition frozen and expanding the Aggie Assurance program starting fall 2026.  WTAW
  • At a Feb. 5 meeting, the Texas A&M System Board of Regents approved fees for over 100 study abroad programs and a master's course while keeping undergraduate tuition at 2021 rates; the flagship campus will also expand Aggie Assurance free tuition for more families this fall.  WTAW
  • Bryan and College Station ISD school boards voted to keep their current policies on religious expression rather than follow a state requirement to designate a specific time and place for prayer; College Station’s board discussed the issue briefly (Feb. 17) and Bryan held a longer session (Feb. 25).  WTAW

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Brazos County has appointed Kale Murray to lead the Veterans Service Office starting March 16; Murray, who served at Texas A&M, takes over as Pam Robertson departs on March 13 for a new role in Aspen (Colorado), leaving a legacy of helping over 9,000 veterans.  WTAW

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Texas A&M women's basketball team will host Mississippi State today at 7 p.m. in Reed Arena for its final home game. Earlier, the regents approved higher fees for select study abroad and graduate programs while keeping undergraduate tuition frozen through next academic year.  WTAW
  • Texas A&M men's basketball lost 99-84 to No. 20 Arkansas at Bud Walton Arena Wednesday after a late surge by the Razorbacks. Zach Clemence scored a career-high 29 points, and the Aggies will host the Longhorns Saturday at Reed Arena.  WTAW
  • Texas A&M women's basketball player Ny'Ceara Pryor was named to the SEC Community Service Team on Wednesday after organizing food drives and backpack collections in the Bryan-College Station area. She returns to the court today at 7 p.m. against Mississippi State (she leads SEC in steals and ranks high in assists).  WTAW
