EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Texas A&M College of Education held its 10th annual Voices of Impact Speaker series on Thursday night at the Memorial Student Center’s Bethancourt Ballroom. Faculty including Dr. Aaron Morton and Dr. Arianna Pikus presented research on stem cell tools and the benefits of outdoor learning.  My Aggie Nation
  • Caroline Gleaton ended a 47-year career at Texas A&M AgriLife Extension, where she built a large cotton market database for agricultural experts. She now plans to move to Brownwood to be closer to her family.  WTAW
  • Texas A&M Health hosted its 18th annual Disaster Day on Friday at TEEX’s Disaster City, where 600 students and emergency responders took part in a large scale medical simulation that included bioterrorism and explosion scenarios.   • Texas A&M women’s basketball defeated Mississippi State 68-64 on Thursday night at Reed Arena, capped by Salese Blow’s clutch points and a fourth consecutive double-double by Ny’Ceara Pryor and Fatmata Janneh. The Aggies will play their regular season finale at Ole Miss on Sunday, Mar. 1.  WTAW
  • Texas A&M track & field stars Morgan Davis and Machaeda Linton won gold and silver in the long jump event at SEC Indoor Championships on Thursday at the RA Murray Fasken 38 Indoor Track and Field facility; Davis had a career day with a jump that moved her to third on the all-time list.  WTAW
  • College Station officials signed a letter of intent to develop a baseball/softball complex with nine fields — a project that could generate up to $28 million in annual tourism — as part of plans to boost local sports and tourism.  The Eagle
  • Texas A&M softball defeated Houston 8-1 in the Texas A&M Invitational at Davis Diamond on Thursday night. Mya Perez led the Aggies with a home run & three RBI as the team jumped to an early 5-1 lead and maintained it throughout the game.  WTAW
  • Texas A&M baseball played Friday in the Amegy Bank College Baseball Series at Globe Life Field and will face UCLA today at 7 p.m. and Arizona State tomorrow at 6:30 p.m.; fans can watch on FloCollege and 1150 AM/93.7 FM The Zone.  WTAW
