BUSINESS NEWS

  • Bryan Broadcasting’s Candy 95 won its fifth national Crystal Award from the National Association of Broadcasters on Tuesday morning in Washington D.C. VP and general manager Ben Downs accepted the award among ten winners chosen from 50 finalists.  WTAW

CULTURE NEWS

  • Brazos Valley Live Music Association is hosting a Songwriter Showcase today in downtown Bryan with a four-course dinner + songwriter round at The Parker-Astin. Some proceeds will help local musician J.D. Graham as he recovers from a recent car accident.  The Eagle

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Blinn College said spring enrollment increased to 16,264 as online and dual credit numbers rose and Bryan campus enrollment dropped to 3,748. The TEAM joint program with Texas A&M will return to the Bryan campus next fall as registration for remaining classes continues.  WTAW
  • Retired Marine Corps Col. Michael Reilly ’94 (Bush School professor) will deliver the keynote address at Texas A&M’s Campus Muster on Tuesday, Apr. 21 at Reed Arena to honor Aggies who passed away.  My Aggie Nation
  • Texas A&M held a ribbon cutting for its new STEM Education and Research Center on Tuesday morning at the RELLIS campus.  The Eagle

SPORTS NEWS

  • Texas A&M football is partnering with Next Level Sports to launch the first season of flag football for first- through sixth-graders in Bryan-College Station starting in March. The five-week program pairs student-athletes with local youth and charges $275 per participant.  WTAW
  • Texas A&M women’s basketball lost 50-49 to Auburn in the SEC Tournament on Wednesday at Bon Secours Wellness Arena. Ny’Ceara Pryor set a record with six steals (the most in an SEC Tournament game).  WTAW
  • Texas A&M’s softball team beat Louisiana Tech 9-1 in five innings at Davis Diamond Wednesday night with a three-run home run from Micaela Wark. The Aggies will travel on March 6 at 11 a.m. to face Tarleton State and play Texas State at 4 p.m.  WTAW
