- ➤ On Mar. 9, a TxDOT spokesman said William Joel Bryan Parkway reconstruction from Texas Avenue to the post office east of Nash Street is nearly complete after $17.5 million in upgrades began in October 2022 (landscaping and cleanup remain) to finish final checks. WTAW
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Texas A&M (15-2) fell to Oklahoma 8-7 at Kimrey Family Stadium on Friday night. The Aggies jumped to a 4-run lead in the first inning but the Sooners tied the game with home runs before scoring the deciding run in the eighth inning. WTAW
- ➤ Aggie Track & Field's Aleksandr Solovev set a new record in the pole vault Friday at the Randal Tyson Track Center with a clearance of 19-0.25 while finishing second and adding eight points to his team's score. WTAW
- ➤ The No. 5 Texas A&M women’s tennis team defeated No. 22 South Carolina 4-0 at the Mitchell Tennis Center on Saturday afternoon. The Aggies won key doubles and singles matches (including a 6-4 win on court 2) to secure the overall victory. WTAW
- ➤ Texas A&M softball fell 7-2 to LSU Monday night at Tiger Park. The Aggies clinched the series and will host Kentucky at Davis Diamond on Friday, Mar. 20 at 6 p.m. WTAW
- ➤ The Texas A&M men's tennis team lost a four to two decision to the Longhorns Friday night at the Texas Tennis Center during the Cotton Holdings Lone Star Showdown. The Aggies won an early doubles point but dropped key singles matches before the Longhorns clinched the win. WTAW
- ➤ The Texas A&M women’s basketball team was named a No. 1 seed in the WBIT and will host McNeese at Reed Arena on Thursday, Mar. 19. If victorious, they will face the winner of a San Diego State and UC Irvine matchup on Sunday at the same venue (tickets open). WTAW
- ➤ The Aggie men’s tennis team upset LSU 4-3 Sunday afternoon at the LSU Tennis Complex with junior Kholo Montsi’s comeback + the team will host Ohio State tomorrow, March 18 at 6 p.m. for their next matchup. WTAW
- ➤ American Airlines offers direct flights from Easterwood Airport to Birmingham for the Alabama game + Knoxville for the Tennessee game next season. Round-trip flights depart Friday and return Sunday, giving Texas A&M fans a quick option to attend road games. WTAW
- ➤ Texas A&M opened SEC play Saturday night at Tiger Park with a 7-2 win over LSU, led by Mya Perez who had three hits including a double, a home run, and three RBIs. The victory improved their record to 18-8 while LSU remains winless in SEC play. WTAW
