- ➤ The College Station ISD board approved a contract on March 18 to expand College Station High School and renovate Rock Prairie Elementary, with work set to begin April 1. The projects will add classrooms, labs, and office space at a guaranteed maximum price of $56,850,715 — and a combined process saved six months of the timeline with $100,000 in cost savings. WTAW
- ➤ Texas A&M University's ban on the Draggieland performance was overturned by a U.S. District Court ruling made Monday—Judge Lee H. Rosenthal said the ban violated the free speech rights of the student-run Queer Empowerment Council. Students plan to hold the drag show on Thursday at Rudder Theatre. My Aggie Nation
- ➤ At a March 18th meeting, the College Station ISD board approved a $56,850,715 contract to expand College Station High School and renovate Rock Prairie Elementary — the high school project will add 103,400 square feet for labs, classrooms and career education while the elementary project will add 4,600 square feet for administration, reducing the timeline by six months and saving $100,000 — with both projects set to start on April 1. - ➤ A federal judge ruled that the drag show will be held on the Texas A&M campus on Thursday, March 27, blocking a board ban enacted on February 28. Judge Lee Rosenthal stated that colleges must protect free speech and artistic expression — those who are offended are free to stay away. WTAW
- ➤ During the March 18 meeting, citizen Jack Robbins read a group's statement asking to remove the Texas Avenue median and mayor Bobby Gutierrez said TxDOT is willing to work with the city. The mayor added he would only support an FM 1179 expansion plan without medians—warning the city risks losing federal funds. WTAW
- ➤ The city of Bryan announced on March 21 the deployment of solar powered safety sticks—devices that measure parking usage—for a 30-day trial without issuing tickets. Deputy city manager Joey Dunn—supporting the pilot program—said a city committee formed in February will review the data to help improve parking. WTAW
