  • Bryan High School freshman Roman Smith is raising funds for an Eagle Scout project to honor fallen officer Bryan Hebert outside Bryan Police headquarters (he has teamed with sculptor J. Payne Lara) and will host a pancake dinner fundraiser at the Bryan American Legion on Tuesday, April 21.  WTAW

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Texas A&M equestrian team was chosen as the No. 2 seed for the NCEA National Championship scheduled for April 16-18 at the World Equestrian Center in Ocala, Florida — they will face TCU in the quarterfinal round on Thursday, April 16.  WTAW
  • Texas A&M Athletics announced that after 17 seasons leading its diving program, coach Jay Lerew retired and assistant coach Jeff Bro became head diving coach. Bro brings over 20 years of national and international coaching experience to guide the team toward continued success.  WTAW
  • Texas A&M standout Micaela Wark has been named NFCA National Player of the Week after going 9-for-12 with eight RBI and key hits in a four-game series. A Frisco native, she earned the honor recently, becoming the first Aggie to receive the award since Julia Cottrill in 2023.  WTAW
  • The No. 2 Texas A&M women’s tennis team hosts No. 4 Auburn today at Mitchell Tennis Center with first serve at 5 p.m. The Aggies come off a win over LSU & Auburn brings a strong lineup in this top-five SEC matchup.  WTAW
  • Texas A&M track & field’s Michael Moiben broke a 41 year record in the 10,000 meter race at the Raleigh Relays on Tuesday and was named SEC Freshman of the Week. His 28:28.90 time ranks him fourth nationally and first among freshmen.  WTAW
  • Texas A&M standout Lucciana Perez earned the No. 1 rank in ITA women’s tennis singles on Tuesday, joining the program’s only No. 1 achievers; the team (currently No. 2) will face Auburn in the SEC at 5 p.m. Thursday at Mitchell Tennis Center.  WTAW
  • Texas A&M third baseman Nico Partida was named Perfect Game’s Midseason Freshman of the Year after starting all 27 games for the Aggies and compiling strong stats (a .320 average, seven home runs, and 23 RBI) that mark him as the top SEC freshman for long balls.  WTAW
  • No. 20 Texas A&M baseball collected 17 hits Tuesday night at Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park to beat Sam Houston 16-2, with standout plays by Nico Partida (4-for-4) and Jake Duer driving key runs.  WTAW
  • The Texas A&M men's tennis team is set to take on Auburn today at 3 p.m. and will play Alabama at 1 p.m. on Saturday — both matches follow a strong weekend with wins over Arkansas and Tennessee.  WTAW
  • Texas A&M’s Aggie Baseball will play Vanderbilt in a three-game series at Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park starting today at 6 p.m., with games on Friday at 6 p.m. and Saturday at 2 p.m. on SEC Network + local radio 1150 AM/93.7 FM.  WTAW
  • Texas A&M’s Vanessa Borovilos tied for third after a bogey-free first round at the Augusta National Women’s Amateur at Champions Retreat Golf Club. She tees off for the second round at 8:44 a.m.  WTAW
  • The No. 15 Aggie softball team hosts Georgia today at 6 p.m. at Davis Diamond for a three-game SEC series plus Friday's contest airs on SEC Network+ and Saturday's finale is set to air on SEC Network.  WTAW
