CRIME NEWS
- ➤ College Station police arrested a man on April 4 after he barricaded himself in a woman’s fourplex unit off Southwest Parkway between Anderson and Bee Creek and threatened her with a knife—she escaped when he fell asleep. WTAW
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ On Friday, many Aggies and their families lined up at the Clayton W. Williams Jr. Alumni Center to receive their rings on the 25th anniversary of Aggie Ring Day—this celebration marks a key step for students who have earned the honor. The event will continue today with about 65,000 people expected and roughly 6,500 rings to be given out. My Aggie Nation
- ➤ At the March 24 meeting, board member David Stennis said the school board was looking for money to replace the artificial turf at Merrill Green Stadium and possibly the lights. A $697,664 contract is set to be awarded at the April 7 meeting—funding details have not been released yet—so plans for the upgrade remain under discussion. WTAW

- ➤ Brazos County sheriff's office expanded its R-U-OK program to check on residents 55 and older as well as other homebound individuals. Volunteers now make regular phone calls to check on well-being + offer peace of mind for family members who cannot visit often. WTAW
- ➤ The Texas A&M system announced that the Texas Senate confirmed three appointments to its Board of Regents, including new member Kelley Sullivan Georgiades—a rancher, executive with Sullivan Brothers Family of Companies and Texas A&M graduate from Galveston. Reappointed regents Jay Graham and Mike Hernandez received new six-year terms while Michael Plank left the board, following Governor Greg Abbott’s nominations confirmed on February 27th. WTAW

- ➤ The No. 13 Texas A&M men's tennis team lost to No. 12 Mississippi State 6-1 at the A.J. Pitts Tennis Centre on Thursday as Mississippi State built an early lead that helped clinch the match. The Aggies will host Texas today at 2 p.m. in the Cotton Holdings Lone Star Show. WTAW
- ➤ Due to predicted inclement weather on Sunday, Texas A&M Athletics rescheduled its softball game at Georgia to today at noon at Jack Turner Stadium. The schedule features a doubleheader with game two at 4 p.m. and the series finale on Monday at 5 p.m.—game one will stream on SECN plus, game two will air on ESPN2, and Monday’s game will be on SEC Network. - ➤ Texas A&M will hire Samford men's basketball coach Bucky McMillan as its new head coach in a five-year deal to replace Buzz Williams. McMillan—the 41-year-old coach with a 99-52 record in five seasons at Samford—led his team to the NCAA Tournament last season. WTAW
