SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Texas A&M baseball swept a doubleheader over Vanderbilt Friday at Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park, winning the first game 8 to 4 and the second 12 to 0. The team will travel to face Texas State next Tuesday at 6 p.m. WTAW
- ➤ Texas A&M softball claimed the series with a 2-1 win over Georgia on Friday at Davis Diamond. Kennedy Powell drove in the go-ahead run with an RBI double in the fourth inning (the Aggies will host McNeese Wednesday at 6 p.m.). WTAW
- ➤ Texas A&M pitcher Aiden Sims was named SEC Pitcher of the Week Monday after a seven-inning shutout against Vanderbilt — his first complete game — earned him his third conference win. The Aggies won Tuesday’s game over Sam Houston at Bobcat Ballpark. WTAW
- ➤ Texas A&M’s women’s golf team was tied for second after Monday’s first round at Traditions Club — Vanessa Borovilos led with a 1-under 71. The team will start round two today at 10:10 a.m. from No. 1. WTAW
- ➤ Texas A&M baseball faces Texas State today at Bobcat Ballpark in San Marcos, with first pitch at 6 p.m. Fans can watch on ESPN+ or listen locally, and the Aggies enter the game riding a midweek winning streak after a series win over Vanderbilt. WTAW
