CRIME NEWS
- ➤ College Station police arrested 17-year-old Javier Maciel on Saturday night for reckless driving in the Northgate district after he drove in the wrong lane, struck a vehicle, and evaded questions about open containers while Texas A&M police arrested 22-year-old John Kasper on April 3 for leaving the scene after his truck struck a bicyclist on March 26—Maciel was released after posting $18,000 in bonds and Kasper after posting a $15,000 bond. - ➤ Bryan Police investigated three student threats at BISD schools including a verbal threat to blow up Rudder high school on March 24, a shooting threat at Stephen F. Austin middle school on April 2 and a threat against a BISD employee at Davila middle school on April 4 — with BISD handling discipline while the cases will be presented to the DA’s office and schools were not interrupted. - ➤ Bryan ISD school board members approved replacing the artificial turf at Merrill Green Stadium on Monday — a nearly $700,000 contract will be paid from remaining 2014 and 2019 bond funds. The project will start in June and finish in July after tests showed the current turf failed a safety softness factor. WTAW
