EDUCATION NEWS

  • At the Monday, Apr. 6 board meeting, Bryan ISD administrators said next year's staffing will adjust with enrollment and no layoffs will occur; presentations showed that 86% of the budget goes to payroll and past vacancies saved $2.5 million + lower attendance cost $2.7 million in state funds.  WTAW
  • Over the last three days, 6,590 Aggies earned their rings at Texas A&M & marked a longstanding campus tradition celebrating academic achievement.  The Eagle

  • Bryan City Manager Andrew Nelson is undergoing medical treatment for a brain mass found on recent scans, and Mayor Bobby Gutierrez says the city stands with him + his family as operations continue normally.  WTAW

SPORTS NEWS

  • World Champion Argentina will face Honduras on June 6 at 7 p.m. at Kyle Field as part of the Road to 26 series (marking the venue’s second international friendly since a 2024 match) with tickets going on sale April 15 at 9 a.m.  WTAW
  • Texas A&M men's tennis player Ethan Silva was named to the SEC Community Service Team for his work volunteering over 15 hours at Aggieland Humane Society and reading to kids in Bryan-College Station. He will join his teammates for senior day recognition Sunday at 1 p.m. versus Oklahoma.  WTAW
  • Texas A&M baseball held its first game in the Cotton Holdings Lone Star Showdown on Friday and will play its second game today at 2 p.m. at Blue Bell Park with a series finale scheduled for Sunday at 1 p.m.  WTAW
  • Texas A&M standout Lucciana Perez earned a spot on the SEC Women’s Tennis Community Service Team following her work serving the Bryan-College Station community (she helped create a Halloween event at a volleyball match). She is ranked No. 1 in ITA singles and boasts a 20-0 season record.  WTAW
  • Texas A&M equestrian riders collected eight All-SEC honors with Ady Kallay named SEC Freshman Rider of the Year for Horsemanship on Thursday afternoon (honors covered flat, reining, and fences) for the 2025-26 season.  WTAW
