- ➤ Texas A&M professor Martin Peterson will leave in July for SMU where he will serve as the Scurlock Chair in AI Ethics starting in August. He said the move follows academic censorship concerns and offers a higher salary (a decision he believes supports academic freedom). My Aggie Nation
- ➤ Texas A&M’s Board of Regents named Susan Ballabina as the sole finalist for president on Monday, Apr. 13, citing her more than 30 years of service at the university. The final decision will come after the required 21 day waiting period. WTAW
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Texas A&M regents chairman Bob Albritton returned from hospitalization after a fall and joined Monday's special conference call where vice chairman Jay Graham welcomed his recovery as the board unanimously voted to name the next university president. WTAW
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Texas A&M's No. 13 softball team swept Ole Miss with a 10-9 win last Sunday at Ole Miss Softball Stadium; KK Dement powered the offense with two home runs (one a grand slam) as the Aggies improved to a 30-12 record. WTAW
- ➤ Texas A&M’s No. 11 softball team travels to Baylor today at 6:30 p.m. at Getterman Stadium — fans can watch the game on ESPN+ or listen locally on radio. WTAW
- ➤ Texas A&M beat Houston 10-2 Tuesday evening at Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park with three home runs and key hits from Jorian Wilson and Nico Partida — the win sets up a three-game conference series against LSU starting Friday at 6 p.m. WTAW
