CRIME NEWS

  • College Station police arrested 29-year-old Deandre Krenek for an aggravated assault in April 2024 that caused severe facial injuries—he was later released on a $10,000 bond—while Bryan police arrested 24-year-old Tyresse Clark on April 14 for injuring a store clerk on March 10 and detained 20-year-old Kabrian Orosco on April 12 for filing a false report and evidence tampering, with Clark and Orosco still in custody as of April 16.  WTAW

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Texas A&M will welcome three finalists for its vice president of student affairs job over the next eight days—each candidate will visit campus before a final decision is made.  The Eagle
  • The College Station ISD school board approved administrator contracts for two years on April 15th after hearing criticism from ten public speakers over a principal reassignment at Rock Prairie Elementary. Board President Jeff Horak acknowledged the community’s concerns but said the board would maintain the superintendent’s recommendations.  WTAW

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Brazos County commissioner Wanda Watson said that stakeholders held a private meeting last Friday about plans for the county's new downtown Bryan office complex across Texas Avenue from the courthouse. The complex — which includes a skywalk and parking garage — will house offices for justice of the peace, constable, adult probation and public defender after contracts were awarded in March.  WTAW

  • Texas A&M's equestrian team is set to face Oklahoma State in the NCEA Quarterfinals today at 1:30 p.m. CST at the World Equestrian Center in Ocala, Florida + the match will be shown on ESPN3 and the USEF Network.  WTAW
  • Texas A&M University announced new NASCAR and INDYCAR partnerships for 2025, teaming with Haas Factory Team where Cole Custer will drive the No. 41 Ford Mustang and sponsoring driver Felix Rosenqvist. The sponsorships will peak on May 25 (when major races take place) to honor military service and showcase the university's core values.  WTAW
  • Texas A&M baseball extended its winning streak to seven games with an 11 to 3 win over Tarleton Tuesday night at Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park, as Jace LaViolette led the offense with a home run and four RBI. The Aggies will hit the road today for a three-game set at No. 2 Arkansas starting at 7 p.m.  WTAW
  • Texas A&M golfer Phichaksn Maichon was named SEC Co-Golfer of the Week after winning the Aggie Invitational with a 6-under 210 score and finishing five strokes ahead of his nearest rival - he shared the honor with three other SEC golfers and helped his team secure a nine-stroke win over Oklahoma.  WTAW
