COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Officer Stacey Dowling of the Bryan Police Department will hold the annual Backing the Blue ice hockey tournament to benefit the 100 Club, which supports families of fallen first responders. The event takes place at Spirit Ice Arena in College Station from June 26 through 28.  WTAW
  • Wellborn Special Utility District invites over 10,000 water customers to a community meeting Saturday morning (April 18) to discuss future impact fees and updates, according to General Manager Campbell Young.  WTAW

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Five Aggie organizations sent a joint letter to the Board of Regents supporting Dr. Susan Ballabina as the sole finalist for Texas A&M president, stressing her leadership and vision for the school.  The Eagle

HEALTH NEWS

  • Baylor Scott & White Health Plan will exit Texas Medicaid Managed Care on Aug. 31 and discontinue Individual Marketplace Plans after Dec. 31, affecting about 225,000 customers and cutting 321 jobs. The plan will continue accepting other insurance while supporting affected team members with reskilling and career guidance.  WTAW

SPORTS NEWS

  • No. 10 Texas A&M baseball faces LSU in a three-game SEC series at Alex Box Stadium; game two starts today at 7 p.m. and the finale is set for tomorrow at 1 p.m. The Aggies lead the series (34-31-1) and will feature pitchers Shane Sdao and Aiden Sims.  WTAW
  • The Texas A&M women’s golf team is competing in the SEC Women’s Golf Championship at Pelican Golf Club from Apr. 17-21. After teeing off Friday at 7 a.m., the team led by head coach Gerrod Chadwell will begin match play on Monday if they finish in the top eight.  WTAW
  • Texas A&M softball hosted Mississippi State in a three-game series at Davis Diamond; game two is today at 11 a.m. and game three will be on Sunday at 1 p.m., with all games streaming on SEC Network.  WTAW
  • Texas A&M women’s tennis team faced No. 14 Vanderbilt in Friday’s SEC Tournament quarterfinal at Oklahoma’s Headington Family Tennis Center, and if victorious, they will play Auburn or Florida today at noon.  WTAW
  • Texas A&M men's tennis defeated No. 22 Vanderbilt 4-2 on Thursday at the Mitchell Tennis Center and advanced to the SEC quarterfinals — they then faced the 4-seed Oklahoma Sooners at 6 p.m. on Friday.  WTAW
  • Texas A&M judo teams won titles at the National Collegiate Judo Association Championships at Fresno State University. The novice women defended wins in several weight divisions while Joel Hetzel led the novice men to gold.  My Aggie Nation
  • Texas A&M football players will wear specialty cleats supporting causes today at the Maroon & White Game at Kyle Field while honoring charities such as the Archer and Epilepsy Foundations, Walk Among Heroes and Jack and Jill of America with a kickoff at 11 a.m. followed by donating the cleats after the game.  WTAW
