CRIME NEWS

  • A Bryan man was arrested after a traffic stop led officers to search his vehicle—and find several drugs.  The Eagle
  • On April 14, 2025, Nathaniel Banks Jr. pled guilty in Bryan to aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon after a September 25, 2021 shooting in which a victim identified him on Facebook Live, and he was sentenced to 40 years in prison.  WTAW

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Texas A&M’s president Mark Welsh updated his review of the Corps of Cadets and outlined tasks the new commandant will complete in May and June—such as restructuring cadet units, clarifying the board’s role, and updating budget requests. After the commandant officially starts on August 1, he will implement a new chain of command by December 15 and present a plan on August 31 to replace Duncan dining hall, the Trigon military science building and build a new cadet life center.  WTAW

  • College Station Councilwoman Melissa McIlhaney spoke with WTAW’s Scott DeLucia on April 18 about her decision to run for council and her early experiences on the council. In the interview she discussed the former Macy’s store building, the ordinance limiting unrelated residents to four, code enforcement and impact fees—details that reflect current policy discussions.  WTAW

  • Texas A&M beat No.2 Arkansas 7-4 on Thursday night at Baum-Walker Stadium as Weston Moss pitched five scoreless frames — earning five strikeouts — to extend the Aggies’ eight-game win streak and take the series lead. This win marked their third straight victory over a Top 2 opponent on the road.  WTAW
  • Texas A&M men’s basketball coach Bucky McMillan added former Samford standout Josh Holloway—recognized as Southern Conference Sixth Man of the Year—to the Aggies’ 2025-26 roster on Friday; he reunites with McMillan after playing two seasons at Samford.  WTAW
  • Texas A&M softball lost its first road game after giving up four home runs and leaving 10 runners on base, falling 9—1 to Missouri in a five-inning run-rule contest on Friday in Columbia. The team ended a streak of 14 wins yet clinched its fifth consecutive SEC series and will host Louisiana Tuesday at 5 p.m. at Davis Diamond.  WTAW
