COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Bryan/College Station Salvation Army will hold its first Family Fun Day on Saturday, Apr. 25, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at its headquarters. The Bryan Fire Department will deploy two new fire engines next week at stations two & three to boost emergency readiness.  WTAW

SPORTS NEWS

  • The No. 2 Aggies lost 4-1 to Auburn in Saturday’s SEC Championship semifinal (held at Headington Family Tennis Center). Texas A&M will learn its postseason placement on Monday, Apr. 27 at 4:30 p.m.  WTAW
  • Texas A&M Athletics' men’s tennis team lost 4-2 to Texas in the SEC Tournament semifinals Saturday afternoon at the Mitchell Tennis Center. Rain interrupted play and the Aggies rallied in singles before Texas advanced in the final set.  WTAW
  • No. 10 Texas A&M defeated LSU 10-4 Friday night at Alex Box Stadium (Jorian Wilson hit two homers) as the Aggies recorded 12 hits and eight walks in the series opener.  WTAW
  • Texas A&M's equestrian team advanced to the NCEA National Championship Final after defeating Georgia (12-6) in semifinal action Friday morning at the World Equestrian Center as wins in Reining, Fences, Flat and Horsemanship secured their spot.  WTAW
  • Texas A&M’s Sidne Peters pitched her first complete SEC game Friday night at Davis Diamond, limiting Mississippi State to four hits and one run in a 3-1 series opener. Game two will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m.  WTAW
  • Texas A&M’s Aggie Men's Tennis clinched a 4-3 win over Oklahoma at the Mitchell Tennis Center Friday night, with Kholo Montsi’s key play securing the semifinal spot. The team will face Texas Longhorns Saturday at 10 a.m. + strong fan support is expected.  WTAW
  • Texas A&M equestrian team fell to South Carolina in the NCEA National Championship Final after a tied score forced a raw score tiebreaker Saturday at the World Equestrian Center; the Aggies finished 1696.08-1473.00 with Kate Egan earning tournament MOP honors.  WTAW
  • The Aggie track & field team broke school records by winning two events at the Tom Jones Memorial on Saturday at the James G. Pressly Stadium at Percy Beard Track. They will head to Philadelphia for the Penn Relays from April 23-25.  WTAW
