EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Texas A&M is remodeling a west campus building to add testing spaces for 6,000 students registered with disability services—two private rooms and three large areas seating 123 will replace an old computer lab. Director Kristie Orr said faculty will also serve as liaisons between students and case workers while the center introduces a new data management system around May 16. WTAW
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Texas A&M Board of Regents is meeting this morning to discuss three items—one of which is the purchase of 867 acres near the RELLIS campus. Officials will review the proposals and decide on next steps for the property. The Eagle
- ➤ The city of Bryan will host an open house at Legends Event Center from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday to offer both newcomers and long-time residents information on city navigation and how to get a library card. The Eagle
- ➤ At its April 15 meeting, Brazos County commissioners approved a budget amendment transferring $130,000 to help cover insurance deductibles for 29 county vehicles damaged by a March hail storm. Insurance risk manager Leslie Contreras said the county pays repair bills then sends claims to the insurance carrier—minus the deductible—to keep premiums from rising. WTAW
