- ➤ The American Legion Post will display an M47 Patton tank on Tuesday, May 5 at about 11:00 a.m. at its Hwy 21 and Waco St location (rescheduled due to weather) to serve as a permanent educational tribute to local veterans. WTAW
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Destination Bryan's Lina Adams previewed May events on Spreaker while Texas A&M regents met Tuesday in College Station to review fiscal 2027 proposals for campus projects and a planned pay increase, which aim to expand student health services and modernize academic facilities. WTAW
- ➤ Texas A&M System Board of Regents will hold a special meeting next Wednesday, May 5 — to authorize the chancellor to negotiate a contract with Susan Ballabina after the required 21-day waiting period. Interim president Tommy Williams was acknowledged by Bryan regent Jay Graham for his service since last September. WTAW
- ➤ Texas 4-H opened its new headquarters building on the Texas A&M RELLIS campus Thursday morning with a ribbon cutting ceremony that marked a milestone for local youth programs. The Eagle

- ➤ Texas A&M men's basketball announced that junior transfer Jalen Shelley joined the 2026-27 roster. The 6-8 forward averaged 13.7 points and 6.6 rebounds at LMU and earned All-WCC Honorable Mention last season. WTAW
- ➤ The No. 12 Texas A&M softball team hosted No. 1 Oklahoma on Thursday at Davis Diamond; Game 2 is scheduled for today at 5 p.m. and the finale will take place on Saturday at 4 p.m. on ESPN 2. WTAW
- ➤ Due to inclement weather, the Texas A&M men’s tennis match against Wagner will not begin before 6 p.m. today at the Mitchell Tennis Center; the start time aligns with the Stanford and Penn match and updates will be shared on the team's official channels. WTAW
- ➤ Texas A&M softball player Mya Perez was named a Top 25 finalist (for USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year Award) after posting a .621 on-base percentage and setting team records. The team closes the season with a three-game series starting Thursday at Davis Diamond. WTAW
- ➤ Retired Texas A&M head football coach Jackie Sherrill visited WTAW’s The Infomaniacs on April 30 to discuss launching the Bryan Youth Sports Association’s first football camp, where he met with Scott DeLucia to share plans for giving local youth football training. WTAW
- ➤ Texas A&M Athletics announced Meagan Braun and tennis player Ethan Silva as winners of the Brad Davis SEC Community Service Award; each earned a $7,500 scholarship and nomination for Community Service Leader of the Year. Braun will attend Shenandoah University while Silva continues serving schools and the Aggieland Humane Society. WTAW
- ➤ Texas A&M women's golf team earned the first seed for the Waco Regional at Ridgewood Country Club and will play from May 11 to 13. The team must finish in the top five to advance to the NCAA Championships in Carlsbad. WTAW
- ➤ Texas A&M baseball hosts Auburn in a three-game series today at 7 p.m. at Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park (game one airs on SEC Network while the next two stream on SEC Network Plus). WTAW
- ➤ Texas A&M track and field closes its regular season by hosting its sixth annual Alumni Muster today at 4 p.m. and Saturday at 10 a.m. at E.B. Cushing Stadium — 14 teams are scheduled to join after a season of top national rankings. WTAW
- ➤ Five former Aggies signed with NFL teams; they include Tyreek Chappell, Le’Veon Moss, EJ Smith, Scooby Williams and Taurean York from the football team. Long snapper Jacob Graham was invited to rookie mini camps for the Cowboys & Texans. WTAW
