- ➤ Bryan ISD board members discussed state lawmakers' inaction on public school funding during their May 5 meeting, noting that funds favor private schools and leave teacher contracts uncertain. Administrators said they cannot yet recommend changes to compensation for the next school year (additional funding based on enrollment could add $7 million) as state decisions have not been made. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ On May 6, four tornadoes hit the Brazos Valley with an EF1 in Jewett and three EF0 events in Milam, near Franklin, and near Frankston, and a worker was rescued after slipping near Highway 7. Rainfall for the first week of May was heavy, with at least 12 inches off Highway 30 east of Bryan/College Station (and nearly 5 inches recorded in Bryan’s historic eastside). WTAW

- ➤ At a Brazos County commission meeting on May 6, 2025, Judge Duane Peters said opponents' accusations about the future East Loop Highway east of College Station and Bryan were false — noting a November 2022 bond election where 67% of voters approved the project. He stated that overturning the citizens' vote would be inappropriate for his court. WTAW
