EDUCATION NEWS

  • Texas A&M athletes Violeta Martinez and Lexington Reed earned spots on the NCAA Division I Academic All-District Team on Thursday — a nod to their strong on-court and classroom performance. Both are finalists for Academic All-America and maintained high GPAs alongside impressive tennis records.  WTAW

  • Texas A&M coach Bobby Shuttleworth announced Thursday that defender Norah Bell, a transfer from Arizona State, has joined the soccer backline to add versatility and international experience from the Canada U-20 camp; she played 19 matches (18 starts) last season to help record eight shutouts.  WTAW
  • Texas A&M’s No. 4 seed Aggies face North Carolina’s No. 5 seed Tar Heels in the NCAA Division I Women’s Tennis Championship quarterfinals today at Georgia’s Dan Magill Tennis Complex at 6 p.m. The Aggies earned their spot by defeating Quinnipiac, Baylor, and USC.  WTAW
  • Texas A&M Athletics announced that former Auburn standout Hamza Nasridinov has joined the men’s tennis roster for the 2026-27 season. He showed strong play last season with a 26-9 singles record and helped secure key wins + earned SEC Player of the Week honors.  WTAW
  • Texas A&M lost the series opener 18-11 to Mississippi State at Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park on Thursday night. The Aggies will face Mississippi State again today at 6:00 p.m. on SEC Network.  WTAW
  • Texas A&M athlete Zaza Nnamdi won the javelin title on Thursday at the SEC Championships at Hutsell-Rosen Track — his 81.20m throw set a strong tone for the Aggies as other athletes advanced in key events. The team will return to the track tomorrow.  WTAW
  • Texas A&M announced on Thursday that Gavin Grahovac, Aiden Sims and Caden Sorrell have been named semifinalists for the Dick Howser Trophy (one of only four schools with three or more nominees among 48 candidates). The winner will be revealed on Friday, June 12 at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha.  WTAW
  • Texas A&M players Gavin Grahovac and Caden Sorrell were named semifinalists for the Golden Spikes Award by USA Baseball Thursday; fan voting starts today on GoldenSpikesAward.com. Finalists will be announced on June 10 and a winner chosen by June 28.  WTAW
  • Today at 1 p.m. at Davis Diamond, the No. 4 seed Texas A&M softball team faces UConn in the College Station Regional. The game airs on ESPN2 + locally on radio and marks the Aggies' 36th NCAA Tournament appearance and 24th consecutive trip.  WTAW
