- ➤ Texas A&M held its 11th annual New Ventures Competition on Thursday at Kyle Field, and local company Humanate won the grand prize with a $35,000 check along with other sponsor awards. Founders Carlos Rodriguez and Larry Powell showcased Cassie—a virtual digital clinical assistant that speaks over 100 languages—and celebrated the win that highlights their innovative work in the region. - ➤ Bryan Police arrested a middle school student for threatening to use a gun at school although he did not have one and no one was hurt + a 38-year-old man pleaded guilty on May 12th to assault and domestic violence charges and was sentenced to 40 years in prison after multiple violent incidents. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Teacher Closet project now uses Bryan ISD’s former warehouse to distribute free school supplies to teachers and other school employees—recipients show an ID badge for access—and a ribbon cutting is held today from 10 a.m. to noon near Bonham and Sadberry schools. WTAW

- ➤ Texas A&M baseball lost its series opener to No. 10 Georgia, 10 to 6, Thursday night at Foley Field—Caden Sorrell hit a three run homer while starter Ryan Prager gave up seven runs in 2 2/3 innings. WTAW
- ➤ The No. 1 seeded Texas A&M softball team opened the Bryan-College Station Regional against Saint Francis on Friday at 2:30 p.m. at Davis Diamond— the game was nationally televised on the SEC Network for local fans to follow. WTAW
- ➤ Seven Aggies from Texas A&M’s softball team earned NFCA All-Region Central honors, with four players—Mac Barbara, KK Dement, Emiley Kennedy and Koko Wooley—earning first team recognition while Allie Enright and Mya Perez earned second team honors and Kennedy Powell was named to the third team, matching the program record set in 1982. - ➤ Texas A&M women’s tennis beat the Tennessee Volunteers 4-2 in the quarterfinal at Hurd Tennis Center and advanced to the NCAA semifinals—now they will face Michigan or Oklahoma State in a semifinal match today at 1 p.m. WTAW
- ➤ Texas A&M track & field’s Sofia Yakushina led the heptathlon on Thursday at Shively Track & Field Stadium by finishing in the top five in every event and winning the 200m with a time of 23.70 to reach 3,548 points — a strong start for the team— while teammates McKenzie Fairchild and Megan Roberts posted season-best marks in the javelin and 10,000m.
