SPORTS NEWS

  • Texas A&M women’s tennis clinched its second NCAA Championship when Daria Smetannikov secured the winning point on Sunday evening at Georgia’s Magill Tennis Complex; the Aggies improved their record to 28-5 and Smetannikov earned Most Outstanding Player honors.  WTAW
  • Texas A&M's No. 15 softball team lost 4-3 to Arizona State in the College Station Regional Saturday afternoon at Davis Diamond and will face the winner of the McNeese-UConn elimination game at 7 p.m. on ESPN+.  WTAW
  • On Friday evening at Olsen Field, No. 10 Texas A&M beat Mississippi State 11-9 with Caden Sorrell driving in six runs (a career-high performance) and pitchers Shane Sdao and Clayton Freshcorn earning the win and save to even the series.  WTAW
  • On Saturday, Texas A&M track & field team finished fourth for the men and sixth for the women at the SEC Championships held at Hutsell-Rosen Track in College Station, and the teams earned a nine-medal haul while clinching the Lone Star Showdown win over Texas.  WTAW
  • Texas A&M won its final SEC series with a 7-6 victory over Mississippi State Saturday at Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park while honoring 10 seniors. The Aggies will start their SEC Tournament on Friday, May 22 at Hoover Met.  WTAW
  • Texas A&M track star Morgan Davis won the long jump title Friday at Hutsell Rosen Track during the SEC Championships with a 6.55 m leap and moved to No. 3 in school history, while the team advanced in hurdles & pole vault events ahead of tomorrow’s finals.  WTAW
  • Texas A&M Aggies host the Bryan Regional golf tournament at Traditions Club from today through Wednesday. Fourteen teams compete on the par-72 course with top-ranked opponents, and the top five teams advance to the NCAA Championship at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa from May 29-June 3.  WTAW
  • Texas A&M’s No. 15 softball team beat UConn 10-3 Saturday night at Davis Diamond — advancing to face Arizona State in the regional final Sunday at 2 p.m. on ABC.  WTAW
  • Texas A&M softball ended its season on Sunday in College Station at Davis Diamond after a nine to one loss to Arizona State, finishing the campaign with a 38,19 record. The loss came after early struggles (as reported by Texas A&M Athletics).  WTAW
