- ➤ College Station police reported on May 20 that thieves forced open front windows at two city parks to burglarize four locked vehicles (stealing credit and debit cards and other personal items). WTAW
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ On May 20th, the College Station ISD school board awarded a nearly $27 million contract for stadium repairs, replacements, and additions at Consolidated and College Station High Schools after voters approved the bond over a year ago. The work is $3.5 million under budget—covering turf replacement, track resurfacing, new scoreboards, seating, and other improvements—and construction will begin after the next football season. WTAW

- ➤ At its May 13th meeting, Brazos County Commissioner Fred Brown questioned the county's use of Diners Club cards and asked purchasing agent Charles Wendt about switching to a rewards card option — Wendt said options were being investigated while noting that employees had not reported issues, and the commission later approved Diners Club cards for two sheriff's office investigators. - ➤ Texas A&M baseball defeated No.8 seed Auburn 3-2 on Thursday morning at Hoover Metropolitan Stadium with Justin Lamkin pitching five strong innings and earning five strikeouts. The Aggies will face No.1 LSU in the quarterfinals Friday night at 6:30 p.m.—a win that helps extend their competitive run in the SEC Tournament. WTAW
- ➤ The Texas A&M volleyball team will face SMU in the inaugural Showdown at the Net on Tuesday, September 9 at Moody Coliseum as part of a two-day tournament featuring 16 teams from the SEC and ACC. The match will be broadcast on ESPN2 (details to be announced). WTAW
