- ➤ Seven local veterans organizations hosted a Memorial Day program on May 25 at the Bryan VFW, featuring speakers including VFW and American Legion commanders & Gold Star Mother Marykay Edwards who honored local service members. WTAW
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Wayne Roberts, a 1985 graduate & top donor, will begin serving as interim president and CEO of the Texas A&M Foundation on June 1. He will continue on the foundation board to support projects at the university. WTAW
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ On May 18, College Station City Council approved agreements to design a splashpad outside Lincoln recreation center (with a $145,000 federal-funded design) and to add sidewalks at an apartment complex along Holleman Drive and Anderson Street; TxDOT will cover about $346,000 for construction. Both projects were approved unanimously. WTAW
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Texas A&M track & field team will compete at the NCAA West First Round at John McDonnell Field from May 27 to 30. The team looks to secure a spot in Eugene for the NCAA Championships & boasts 14 top-ten national marks. WTAW
- ➤ Texas A and M baseball was named the No. 12 national seed and will host the College Station Regional at Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park on Friday, May 29. The Aggies meet Lamar at 3 p.m. on SEC Network and USC plays Texas State at 8 p.m. on ESPN+. WTAW
