  • LJ's BBQ in Brenham and Snow's BBQ in Lexington were named to Texas Monthly's Top 50 BBQ joints list, a boost for Brazos Valley barbecue + a sign of rising regional pride.  The Eagle

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Dr. Susan Ballabina from Texas A&M appeared on The Infomaniacs on May 27 to discuss graduation numbers, Qatar campus plans and leadership changes while President Mark Welsh outlined new appointments and survey results in his online letter. A Memorial Day program took place at Veterans Park in rainy weather and the Bryan ISD board continues talks with the governor’s office over tax incentives for a semiconductor facility at the RELLIS campus — a move expected to boost local industry — as community education efforts progress.  WTAW

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Bryan city council approved rezoning for a mixed-use development across Highway 21 north of the RELLIS campus on May 20. Developer Luke Marvel said he agreed with council modifications to building standards and amenities (the plan splits commercial and residential uses and includes buying water rights for $258,000 that Marvel will reimburse).  WTAW

HEALTH NEWS

  • Texas A&M professor Simrit Parmar invented a therapy that has improved patients suffering from rare diseases like ALS. The treatment will be further studied + researchers plan additional tests to learn more about its impact.  The Eagle

SPORTS NEWS

  • Texas A&M’s Mary Stoiana was named one of three finalists for the Honda Award for women’s tennis, as announced Tuesday by the Collegiate Women’s Sports Awards. She achieved a 28-6 record, earned key wins against top opponents, maintained a 3.78 GPA, and participated in local school programs through REVved Up to Read — with the final award to be announced later.  WTAW
  • Texas A&M’s Cayetana Fernández García-Poggio and Vanessa Borovilos earned WGCA Honorable Mention All-America honors Tuesday — marking the first honor for both and the first pair of Aggies to receive the recognition since 2022. Borovilos will compete at the U.S. Women’s Open tomorrow — and the team finished last season ranked No. 20.  WTAW
  • Mya Perez was named to the All-America Second Team by D1 Softball Tuesday in College Station, capping a season that set a Texas A&M record with 73 RBI and a .424 batting average. Perez ranked among the top 20 nationally in on-base percentage and hit strongly against ranked opponents, which boosted her team’s overall performance.  WTAW
