- ➤ Bryan police arrested 27 year old Carlos Emelio Garcia for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon on May 27th after he fired a gun at three people with one shot hitting a pickup truck, and they also arrested 17 year old Renato Carrillo-Vasquez for allegedly striking a victim with a bat on May 19th while he remained in jail on a $75,000 bond. - ➤ Bryan police arrested a man on Sunday for alleged possession of methamphetamine (between 1 and 4 grams). The Eagle
- ➤ Bryan police issued a three-count warrant for a man for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon that allegedly occurred May 28 — the department continues investigating the case. The Eagle
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ On Thursday, May 29, Comcast held a groundbreaking event in west Bryan for a multimillion-dollar fiber internet project that will install 1,000 miles of fiber connecting 70,000 homes and businesses and build a tech hub and Xfinity retail store. Construction is underway and the project is part of Comcast’s $1.6 billion plan to boost local connectivity and grow the economy — a move aimed at giving the community better digital access. WTAW
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Bryan ISD officials said that the Legislature’s record $8.5 billion school funding bill does not supply enough money since it only provides a $55 per student increase and freezes other funds — far less than the $1,300 needed to match inflation. The board faces a $6.2 million deficit and will hold a public hearing on June 16 — more adjustments may be made in July and August. The Eagle
