CRIME NEWS

  • Bryan police arrested two men, 29-year-old Anthony Tijerina and 28-year-old Benjamin Lopez, on charges of beating a man and taking his car near 28th and Sims on June 1 and are seeking a third suspect, while a Grimes County man remains jailed for assaulting three women on June 2—College Station police also arrested three gang-linked young men during a June 3 traffic stop for a broken taillight.  WTAW

  • On Wednesday, Jackie Doss—owner of JD Ranch Boutique and a Texas A&M graduate—taught 4-H'ers about entrepreneurship at the Texas 4-H Roundup in College Station. She encouraged the students to build their personal brand and explained how her store succeeded despite early criticism of opening in a mall.  The Eagle

  • State Rep. Paul Dyson, R-Bryan, announced his bid for re-election to House District 14 on Wednesday—he aims to continue serving local priorities.  The Eagle
  • Yesterday, Emergency Management Coordinator Jeanelle Johnson and Bryan Firefighter Chris Lamb joined WTAW’s Scott DeLucia on The Infomaniacs to explain hurricane season preparedness—covering evacuation planning and safe sheltering in an emergency. The discussion aimed to inform local residents on staying ready during severe weather.  WTAW
  • Texas A&M will begin construction this month on its west campus to widen Penberthy Road and add bicycle parking, new street lighting and shared use paths — a $5.8 million project approved on May 29th by CFO John Crawford — with the road widening finishing by fall and the remaining features completed by January.  WTAW
  • Brazos County commissioners approved proposals from construction companies for a $17 million remodeling of the county administration building that will improve the space and address water damage issues. The project will add a second floor to the old church sanctuary + replace the building’s exterior, following a year-long design process and questions from the meeting audience.  WTAW

  • Texas A&M announced its 2025 Hall of Fame Class that honors eight Aggie legends, with Rick Rickman and Dan Campbell earning the Hall of Honor and Lifetime Achievement awards—marks of their outstanding contributions—and the induction banquet will be held on Friday, Sept. 5 at the Ford Hall of Champions.  WTAW
  • Texas A&M golfer Phichaksn Maichon earned a place on Golfweek All-America First Team after finishing runner-up at the NCAA Championship and winning two tournaments — he will make his professional debut today at the Korn Ferry Tour’s BMW Charity Pro-Am held at Carolina Country Club and Thornblade Club in Greer.  WTAW
  • Texas A&M’s Cayetana Fernández García-Poggio and Vanessa Borovilos earned Golfweek All-America honors as Fernández García-Poggio made the third team and Borovilos received an honorable mention—this marks their second national All-America nod after being named WGCA Honorable Mention All-Americans on May 27.  WTAW
