Bryan man Olajawon Mason, 32, was sentenced to 40 years in prison on June 6 for aggravated assault after he strangled and beat his girlfriend and threatened her sister with a firearm during an incident on September 15, 2022—lifetime protection orders were issued for both women.

At the Bryan ISD meeting on June 2, CFO Kevin Beesaw said the state funding bill would force the district to consider major cuts to school programs plus incoming CFO Norma Friddle noted that pay raises excluded key staff.
