EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Texas A&M's equestrian coach Tana McKay unveiled the schedule for the 2025 to 2026 season on Friday—showing the team will host six meets at the Hildebrand Equine Complex. The school named Dr. Bonnie Rush as the new dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences and she will begin on August 1—she takes over from Dr. John August, who will assist in the transition until July. - ➤ College Station changed its trash rules — on June 12, the city council voted to add a $25.50 fee to residents' utility bills instead of requiring a court appearance and to extend the time to move containers from 12 to 24 hours. WTAW
- ➤ On June 10, Brazos County commissioners extended the grant writer's contract for a fourth year after noting his work generated nearly $3.8 million in grant applications—one commissioner questioned his first-year spending of $48,000. County staff said they will request the same expenditure in the next budget. WTAW
