- ➤ The 560th RED HORSE Squadron has been building a new construction lab at Texas A&M’s RELLIS campus — the project remains in progress. The Eagle
- ➤ Texas A&M’s first Associate Provost of Faculty Advocacy, Dr. Claire Katz, shared her first eight months on the job at the June 9 faculty senate meeting and said she visited most remote campuses to help faculty understand university work. She noted she is not a lawyer, therapist, or magician—faculty conversations may be reported if needed. WTAW
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Blinn College District Board of Trustees approved a $134.3M budget for Fiscal Year 2026—this budget will guide the college's spending plans for the upcoming year. The Eagle
- ➤ On June 12, the College Station City Council spent almost three hours discussing ways to make housing more affordable but made no decisions. Council members examined the possibility of reducing impact fees and noted that over 1,100 housing units receive tax credits with 41 households getting down payment assistance—further work is managed by a citizen committee. - ➤ Brazos County earned $4,245,341.42 in interest income during the first quarter- a speaker questioned how it would be spent at the May 27th county commission meeting. County auditor Katie Conner said the income is added to the department holding the principal and noted that the fourth quarter ended with $3,864,561.70 in interest. WTAW

- ➤ Texas A&M golfer Phichaksn Maichon was named a finalist for the 2025 Gary Player International Golfer of the Year Award—he was one of five Division I players selected when the Golf Coaches Association of America announced the nod on Tuesday. He had a strong season with wins at the SeaBest Invitational and Aggie Invitational and a runner-up finish at the NCAA Championship. WTAW
- ➤ Texas A&M’s Mya Perez earned a spot on the College Sports Communicators Softball Academic First Team All-American after playing well on the diamond and doing well in her classes—she held a 3.51 GPA and set a Texas A&M record with 73 RBI. She is the first Aggie to earn the honor since 2008 and only the fourth in program history. WTAW
- ➤ The Texas A&M women's basketball team announced its 2026 SEC schedule which features 16 games - eight at home and eight on the road. Game dates and tip times will be shared later. WTAW
