EDUCATION NEWS

  • Texas A&M University has climbed to the No. 2 spot among public universities and No. 8 overall in American Caldwell’s Global University Visibility Rankings. It jumped from sixth among U.S. schools last year—outranking UCLA, Arizona State, Michigan and Cal Berkeley—to show its growing online presence.  My Aggie Nation

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • At a July 1 meeting, Brazos County commissioners learned that Senate Bill 2753 will extend early voting to start 12 days before election day and add weekend hours at early voting sites—raising concerns over worker fatigue and costs. Elections administrator Trudy Hancock said the law will delay early results on election night and that the county awaits further federal guidance on voting systems.  WTAW
  • A 29-year-old Bryan man pleaded guilty in Brazos County district court last month to unlawful carrying of a weapon after handing over three guns, leading to multiple charges. The Bryan City Council will consider a three-year rental agreement at its July 8 meeting to bring a new baseball team to Travis Major Field in 2026 with a yearly fee of $32,000 and revenue from concessions, sponsorships and advertising rights.  WTAW

  • Bryan City Council will consider a three-year contract on July 8 that brings a new summer collegiate baseball team to Travis Major Field starting in 2026. The deal will pay the city $32,000 per year — along with a share of net revenue from ads, sponsorships, concessions and broadcasts, and it follows the Bombers' plan to move to College Station.  WTAW
  • The Bryan City Council will review a three-year contract on July 8th to bring a Mid America League baseball team to Travis Major Field starting in 2026—if approved, the city will earn $32,000 per year plus a share of revenue from concessions, sponsorships, ads and broadcasts. City staff will manage the facility beginning in January.  WTAW
