CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A College Station woman was arrested on July 26 for stealing a suitcase worth $1,500 on June 4 and remains held on a $4,000 bond plus additional warrants while Bryan police arrested a Houston man for a June 28 vehicle burglary near a neighborhood pool clubhouse after video linked him to stolen credit cards— he is now held on bonds totaling $58,000. - ➤ Larry Bollin, a Grimes County man found guilty in Bryan’s April 2021 workplace shooting, admitted he shot a DPS trooper who lost his left eye while trying to arrest him—he agreed to plead guilty to wounding co-workers and waive appeals in Brazos and Grimes counties. WTAW

- ➤ Brazos County Commissioner Chuck Konderla announced in court on Tuesday that he will not run for reelection next year — his announcement sets the stage for a new face in next year's county leadership. The Eagle
- ➤ Brazos County commissioners terminated the design contract for the east loop highway east of Bryan on July 29 after almost one hour of public opposition. Commissioner Chuck Konderla said the decision was not politically motivated since he is not running for re-election next year + the commission will work to remove the project from the metropolitan planning organization list. - ➤ Texas A&M football offensive linemen Ar’Maj Reed-Adams and Trey Zuhn III were named to the preseason Outland Trophy watch list to recognize the best interior lineman — both returning starters helped the Aggies produce over 2,500 rushing and passing yards last season — and they join 48 other players from nine conferences on the list. - ➤ Texas A&M defensive back Will Lee III was named to the Bronko Nagurski Trophy Preseason Watch List Tuesday—he earned All-SEC Second Team honors last season with 42 tackles and 10 pass breakups. WTAW
- ➤ Texas A&M's Michael Heidelbaugh and Jack Usner earned the 2024-25 Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar recognition announced Tuesday, meeting strict academic and athletic standards. Heidelbaugh, a Dallas native, broke into the top 100 national rankings while Usner played in seven events with a scoring average of 74. WTAW
