CRIME NEWS

  • College Station police arrested a man for allegedly possessing psilocybin mushrooms and threatening officers.  The Eagle

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Texas A&M University College of Medicine will host its annual white coat ceremony Saturday afternoon at Rudder Auditorium from 3—5:30 p.m. The event will unveil its new name, the Texas A&M University Naresh K Vashisht College of Medicine, in honor of a record gift that will fund scholarships, research and innovation.  My Aggie Nation

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Brazos County commissioners delayed a developer’s incomplete plat application on July 29 after a public comment called for complete documents—then unanimously approved the completed request on August 5.  WTAW
  • Bryan police arrested two people for stealing a purse and two for selling drugs from a hotel room after video evidence showed the theft at a Dollar General store. The city hired REV Entertainment — the operating company of the Texas Rangers — to study Travis Major Field during a six-month feasibility study that will guide future decisions for sports and event tourism.  WTAW
  • The City of Bryan hired REV Entertainment to study the future of Travis Major Field as part of a six-month feasibility study that will review renovation design, budget, outreach to professional sports leagues and year-round programming—without committing the city to further construction. The initiative aims to guide decision-making on converting the historic field into a sports and event tourism hub.  WTAW

SPORTS NEWS

  • Texas A&M soccer recorded a 4 to 0 exhibition win over the Rice Owls on Tuesday at Ellis Field, with Taylor Jernigan, Bailey Cate, Savannah Hutchins & Leah Pirro each contributing to the victory. The Aggies had a 22 to 5 shot advantage and will host the UTRGV Vaqueros at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday at the same field.  WTAW
  • Texas A&M's Vanessa Borovilos set a U.S. Women's Amateur record by scoring a 9-under 63 with 10 birdies in the second round at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort on Tuesday. She advanced to match play with fellow Aggies Natalie Yen and Scarlett Schremmer after breaking a 12-year-old record.  WTAW
