CRIME NEWS
- ➤ After a break of a few years, the Brazos County district attorney’s office restarted its Citizens Prosecutor Academy to run on nine Tuesday nights starting September 9, and Bryan police plus federal officials investigated weekend gunfire near the Federal Women’s Prison on August 9—no one was hurt and several vehicles and a home were damaged. - ➤ A Bryan woman was arrested Saturday and charged with her fourth DWI — she allegedly rammed a dumpster several times and crashed her car in a ditch. The Eagle
- ➤ On August 9 at about 1:08 a.m., Bryan police investigated gunfire near the federal prison as groups exchanged shots and a prison guard fired his weapon after spotting an armed person—no one was hurt although a residence and several vehicles were hit. WTAW
- ➤ A Seguin man was arrested Saturday evening at Legends Event Center in Bryan—police found methamphetamine on his person while serving an arrest warrant. The Eagle
- ➤ Bryan police responded to shots fired on August 9 at about 1:08 a.m. in the 700 block of Dansby where individuals exchanged gunfire and a prison guard fired his weapon when he saw an armed person — no one was injured as authorities continue to investigate. WTAW
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Students in Bryan and College Station ISDs start school Wednesday without cell phones as new state law Bill 1481 requires devices to be locked away in backpacks or lockers during class. Bryan ISD is allowing a three-day grace period with warnings while College Station will enforce similar non-punitive measures—if a phone is not surrendered, it will be handled as insubordination.
