EDUCATION NEWS

  • At the Bryan ISD board meeting on August 19, the board unanimously approved a nearly $192,000 purchase — for mandated safety equipment — after private discussion, with board president David Stasny confirming no further details were disclosed.  WTAW

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Today, TEEX will run helicopter rescue training at Disaster City — residents in Bryan and College Station may hear low-flying helicopters making loud noise as part of this exercise only.  WTAW

SPORTS NEWS

  • Texas A&M football players earned All-SEC honors after six players were selected by league head coaches—senior running back Le’Veon Moss made first-team while offensive linemen Ar’maj Reed Adams, Trey Zuhn III and junior Chase Bisontis joined senior cornerback Will Lee III and junior linebacker Taurean York on second and third teams. These selections reflected their season performances including Moss’s strong rushing average before his season ended early with an injury.  WTAW
  • Aggie football players Ar’maj Reed-Adams and Taurean York were named AP Preseason All-Americans, with Reed-Adams on the first team — York on the second team. Both captains will earn additional honors on the Walter Camp and media Preseason All-SEC teams as the Aggies will begin their season at Kyle Field on August 31 at 6 p.m. on ESPN.  WTAW
  • Texas A&M quarterback Marcel Reed was named to the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award Preseason Watch List Tuesday by Texas A&M Athletics. He is one of 16 quarterbacks nationwide to pass for over 1,850 yards and rush for more than 500 yards in 2024.  WTAW
