GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Wellborn Special Utility District board approved water rate increases for more than 10,000 customers on August 19—typical residential rates will rise in October 2025 and again in October 2026 to pay for system upgrades and a new water supply project. • At an August 12 workshop meeting, Bryan City Council heard a staff presentation on the proposed 'Gameday on Main' promotion, which would sponsor free shuttle bus service for Texas A&M football games—an idea that might include video screens at Palace Theater and expand to other games, with no objections raised by council members. The plan was discussed to boost downtown business without any formal decision made at the meeting.  WTAW
