  • Bryan-based Kristen Distributing Company is celebrating its 95th anniversary as a fourth-generation, family-owned beverage distributor that supplies 2,100 retailers across 23 counties. The company operates large facilities in Bryan and Temple and supports local youth programs through community partnerships — a milestone reflecting its long commitment to the region.  WTAW
  • Texas A&M unveiled its new collaboration with Aegis Aerospace in Houston on Friday — a lab that will provide space for experiments on the International Space Station — as part of efforts to advance space research.  The Eagle

CRIME NEWS

  • A Bryan man was arrested on Thursday after a traffic stop and charged with manufacturing and delivery of 1,000 grams of THC in vape pens.  The Eagle
  • Bryan police arrested a man on Thursday for multiple alleged offenses including possession of methamphetamine (35.81 grams).  The Eagle

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Texas A&M and Aegis Aerospace unveiled a new lab called TAMU-SPIRIT—designed for experiments on the International Space Station—at Space Center Houston on Friday. The lab will allow Texas A&M students, professors and researchers to run experiments that are updated every six months.  My Aggie Nation
  • At Blinn College, trustees met on August 19 to receive an update on new state laws that required nearly all remote fulltime faculty to return to campus and led to more conservative state funding—administrators are now aligning trustee oversight over the once independent faculty senate.  WTAW

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • College Station Fire Chief Richard Mann spoke on The Infomaniacs on Friday, August 22nd about returning students, equipment sent to a car crash, plans for a new fire station, and challenges with fire truck makers — he also mentioned the need to hire more firefighters.  WTAW
  • Brazos County commissioners approved state grant money on August 19 to expand the public defender's office—continuing funding for the ten original staff and adding divisions for juveniles, mental health, and appeals. The board's vote was four to one after one hour of discussion.  WTAW

SPORTS NEWS

  • Texas A&M athletics announced that they pulled over 40,000 student tickets in their first fully online ticket pull for the home opener against UTSA next week—student guest tickets are sold out and sports pass holders may still log in to claim an SRO ticket.  WTAW
