- ➤ Bryan police arrested 25-year-old Nathan Ledezma after he failed to fully stop before turning right—he was found with 500 vape pens containing THC and an 18-ounce package of marijuana and later posted a $55,000 bond with help from a Robertson County deputy and his canine partner. WTAW
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ On Monday, Texas A&M held its first day of classes as student organizations recruited members outside the Memorial Student Center — marking the start of the academic year. The Eagle
- ➤ The filing deadline for November school board elections in Bryan and College Station has passed—five of the six races are contested and Bryan ISD SMD one remains unopposed as incumbent Felicia Benford seeks her sixth term while voter registration stays open until October 6. WTAW
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Bryan fire station four, located on North Texas across from Davila middle school, will start a sixth month of mold removal after firefighters moved in March returned to work from a trailer—engine crew returned June 23 and medic crew July 21, but there is no set timeline for finishing repairs. WTAW
- ➤ Brazos Center manager Joanna Spencer said rental prices for events will increase for the first time in ten years after a county commission meeting on August 19th, with new rates starting in 2026—current contracts will be honored. WTAW
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Logan Lednicky led the Texas A&M Aggies to a 3-1 win over Minnesota at the AVCA First Serve event Monday evening at the Sanford Pentagon by scoring 22 kills and earning match MVP honors. The team started its season 1-0 and will face Rice and Central Arkansas in Houston on Aug. 29-30. WTAW
- ➤ Texas A&M's Cayetana Fernández García-Poggio and Vanessa Borovilos were named to the 2025 ANNIKA Award Preseason Watch List & the list honors the top female Division I golfers chosen by players, coaches and media. Fernández García-Poggio earned All-America honors with two wins last season while Borovilos received All-SEC Freshman recognition. WTAW
