CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Bryan police arrested one of three suspects on weapons charges after gunfire struck a home and three vehicles near the federal women’s prison earlier this month. WTAW
- ➤ A burn ban was announced in Robertson and Madison Counties and is being discussed in Brazos County due to dry conditions reported on August 26. A College Station man admitted to murdering two family members, wounding a third and threatening a fourth in May 2024—he received life sentences that make him eligible for parole in 30 years. WTAW
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Brazos County commissioners were caught off guard—when the Legislature met Tuesday morning to set a proposed property tax rate for the fiscal year starting Oct. 1—and said they were not consulted before the decision was made. The Eagle
- ➤ College Station ISD board members decided not to change the district's grievance policy at their August meeting as chief of staff Sara Goolsby explained the district had opted to retain the current policy. WTAW
