- ➤ Texas A&M’s president fired an English professor after he removed a dean and department head on September 8 because course content did not match the published description—he said this step ensures academic responsibility. WTAW
- ➤ Texas A&M President Mark A. Welsh III fired professor Melissa McCoul after a video showed that her children’s literature class used material that did not match the course catalog and broke state rules on DEI content. - ➤ Brazos County commissioners unanimously adopted the fiscal year 2026 budget and kept the property tax rate flat—at the same rate as this year. Acting County Judge Kyle Kacal said the decision follows months of meetings and aims to protect taxpayer interests while supporting key services. WTAW
- ➤ Brazos County commissioners voted Tuesday to adopt a $548.3 million FY2026 budget and kept the tax rate unchanged at $0.4197 per $100 of valuation—public hearings guided the lean plan amid property valuation challenges. - ➤ On Monday the No. 7 Texas A&M women’s golf team finished the first round of the Folds of Honor Collegiate in second at 5-over 293 at American Dunes Golf Club. Freshman Brynn Kort led the team by shooting a 1-under 71 & her strong play helped the Aggies stay near the top of the leaderboard as they teed off at 12:15 p.m. Tuesday. WTAW
- ➤ The No. 8 Texas A&M volleyball team will head north on Tuesday and Wednesday to face ranked opponents SMU and TCU — they earned their highest national ranking after a five-game win streak in Utah. The Aggies will look to build on that momentum as standout Maddie Waak leads in assists. WTAW
- ➤ The No. 20 Texas A&M men’s golf team won the season-opening 2nd Swing Gopher Invitational at Windsong Farm Golf Club—beating South Carolina by seven strokes as they posted an even 852. Aaron Pounds led the team with his late charge and recorded his first collegiate win. WTAW
- ➤ Texas A&M's Cashius Howell was named Walter Camp National Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday after recording three consecutive sacks on a drive that pushed Utah State to its 4-yard line—making him the first Aggie to achieve this feat since 2023. WTAW
- ➤ Texas A&M men’s basketball announced its complete 2025—26 schedule Tuesday ahead of head coach Bucky McMillan’s first season, with the Aggies set to open on Nov. 3 at Reed Arena and face five Power 4 opponents early in the season. The schedule also lists nine non-conference games at home plus SEC midweek contests and road and neutral site matchups extending through Feb. 18. WTAW
