- ➤ Texas A&M updated its citizenship and service initiative when Mark Welsh and Kim Field presented the plan and answered questions at the board of regents committee meeting in August — noting that October marks two years since the initiative was announced. WTAW
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Brazos County commissioners remembered former county judge Al Jones at their September 9 meeting after he died on September 4 at 94—Commissioner Chuck Konderla recalled Jones’ help following a hit and run 30 years ago. A graveside service with full military honors is scheduled today at 10 a.m. at College Station cemetery on Texas Avenue. WTAW
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Texas A&M swimming & diving program has unveiled its 2025-26 schedule with the Aggies set to begin competition Oct 10-11 at the USC Invitational in Los Angeles and host dual meets vs. TCU on Oct 17 and SMU on Oct 24-25. The season will also feature diving and swimming events in Austin, a home dual on Senior Day, the SEC Championships in Knoxville, and NCAA championships in Atlanta in March. WTAW
- ➤ The Texas A&M men’s tennis team started its season at the Waco Fall Kickoff Classic on Friday and will continue playing through Sunday at the Hurd Tennis Center. Four players—senior Ethan Silva, junior Lathan Skrobarcek, redshirt sophomore Ritesh Patil, and freshman Egor Gorin—will represent the team as they face opponents from schools like Abilene Christian, Baylor, Rice, SMU, Texas Tech, and UT Arlington.
