EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Bryan ISD School Board member Joel Bryan appeared on WTAW’s The Infomaniacs on Monday, September 15 to explain the three proposals in the 2025 bond package—detailing their funding plans and addressing common misconceptions. WTAW
- ➤ Dr. Melissa McCoul, a Texas A&M professor with over a decade of experience, was fired on September 9 for not aligning her teaching with the approved course description - her lawyer stated she taught as required and she is now appealing her termination while exploring further legal action. WTAW

- ➤ College Station’s city council moved forward last month with plans for a new rec center that may be sent to voters in a bond referendum — staff have narrowed potential sites to three city-owned properties and discussions included a possible YMCA partnership. - ➤ Texas A&M’s Ethan Silva won the red bracket singles crown on Sunday at the Hurd Tennis Center — he beat Texas Tech’s Felipe Pagnacco in straight sets. WTAW
- ➤ Texas A&M wide receiver Mario Craver earned the AP National Player of the Week honor after a game in which he gained 207 yards and caught an 86—yard touchdown in the Aggies' 41—40 win over No.8 Notre Dame. He is the first Aggie to win the award and now leads the nation with 443 receiving yards this season. WTAW
- ➤ Texas A&M quarterback Marcel Reed was named to the Davey O’Brien Great 8 and Manning Award Star of the Week on Monday after he threw for 360 yards and two touchdowns in a 41-40 win over Notre Dame in South Bend — he led a 74-yard drive that ended with a tight end catch with 13 seconds left. - ➤ Texas A&M graduate Albert Regis earned SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week honors on Monday for his strong play in the Aggies’ 41-40 road win over Notre Dame. The defensive tackle from LaPorte recorded a career-high seven tackles including a key sack that halted Notre Dame’s drive — an effort that now ranks him second among SEC defensive tackles. WTAW
