EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Texas A&M planned to form a new faculty advisory council on November 1 but the university has not set the new rules required under Senate Bill 37—no appointments have been made yet—and the process will start when the board of regents finalizes the guidelines. WTAW
- ➤ At the Blinn College trustees meeting on September 16, fall enrollment reached its third highest headcount ever—despite the Bryan campus dropping to 4,665 students as of September 5. Enrollment at Brenham increased by 370 and 452 more high school students took dual credit classes. WTAW
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Bryan City Council approved a voluntary annexation that rezones land across Highway 21 from the RELLIS campus for a data center and commercial businesses. Mayor Bobby Gutierrez said the plan may lead to a realignment at the intersection and requires multiple studies—prohibiting crypto mining data centers before construction begins. WTAW

- ➤ Texas A&M Athletics announced that the SEC will schedule conference games from 2026 through 2029 with annual matchups against LSU, Missouri and Texas and mandate a high-quality non-conference game each season.
