- ➤ The Kimbell Cultural Event Center held its grand opening during First Friday’s 20th anniversary, marking a milestone for local culture. The Eagle
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ A funeral service for Miss Reveille IX, the former Texas A&M mascot who died at age 11, is set for 5 p.m. Friday at O.R. Simpson Drill Field—open to current and former students, faculty, staff and the public. After the service, she will be laid to rest at the Reveille Memorial near the north end of Kyle Field. - ➤ Texas A&M football improved to 5-0 after beating Mississippi State 31-9 at Kyle Field in front of one of its largest crowds. Meanwhile, the Texas A&M System Board of Regents unanimously appointed former state senator Tommy Williams as interim president to lead the university during its search for a permanent leader — a move that highlights his deep ties to the Aggie community. - ➤ Natalie Holder—fourth-generation Aggie and former Fish Drill Team member—has been named the new drum major for the Fighin' Texas Aggie Band at Texas A&M and will lead the band in upcoming performances. The Eagle

- ➤ Brazos County officials today opened the new Veterans Service Office in Bryan — the office will offer support and resources to local veterans. The Eagle
- ➤ The Brazos County Veterans Service Office moved to the Roy Kelly garage in Bryan and Service Officer Pam Robertson said the change will better serve veterans plus improve outreach efforts. The Eagle
- ➤ At a September 30 commission meeting, Brazos County 4-H council members and agents received a proclamation for National 4-H Week—October 5-11—with introductions from agent Ashleigh Sugg and council members before county judge Kyle Kacal read the proclamation. The event recognized the contributions of 720 4-H members in the county. WTAW
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Texas A&M’s Cashius Howell and Daymion Sanford earned SEC weekly honors after leading the Aggie defense to a 31-9 win over Mississippi State — Sanford recorded a career-high nine tackles with an interception while Howell achieved three sacks. The team will host Florida on October 11th at 6:00 p.m. on ESPN as they continue their strong season. WTAW
- ➤ On Sunday, the No. 9 Texas A&M volleyball team swept Alabama 3-0 at Foster Auditorium with set scores of 25-19, 25-9, and 25-18. The Aggies improved their league record to 4-0 and will host Kentucky on Wednesday at Reed Arena at 6 p.m. WTAW
- ➤ Texas A&M will face Arkansas on Saturday, Oct. 18 at 2:30 p.m. CT on ESPN—hoping to secure a fourth straight win over the Razorbacks after a 31-9 win over Mississippi State. WTAW
- ➤ The Texas A&M soccer team played Oklahoma in a match that ended 0-0 at John Crain Field on Sunday afternoon—Maysen Veronda made four saves while the defense limited scoring, and the Aggies will travel to Baton Rouge for a 7 p.m. game against LSU on Friday. WTAW
