EDUCATION NEWS

- ➤ Texas A&M architecture students and faculty showed their projects at the annual showcase held in Rudder Tower on Thursday, and the event gave local visitors a chance to see a wide range of design work by both groups. The Eagle
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Brazos County jail has a Kerrville woman on charges of breaking into seven work trucks in Wixon Valley and trying to steal up to $20,000 in copper wiring. The county commission approved the purchasing director’s request for extra approval authority—letting staff process contracts under $100,000 faster without county judge review. WTAW
- ➤ On September 30, the Brazos County Commission approved the purchasing office director’s request to let the office sign contracts up to $100,000 without needing extra approval—this change comes from provisions in Texas government code sections 262.001 and 262.011 and aims to speed up routine procedures. SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ The No. 4 Texas A&M women’s golf team finished second at the NB3 Matchplay at Twin Warriors on Wednesday afternoon after losing 3.5—1.5 to Arizona. The team will play next in San Marcos on Oct. 19—20 for the Jim West Invitational. WTAW
- ➤ Texas A&M women's basketball team was chosen to have eight games broadcast on SEC Network during the 2025-26 season—these games include home matchups against Georgia Tech, LSU, South Carolina, Alabama and Auburn as well as road contests with Texas, Missouri and Kentucky. Their season will start Nov. 5 at 7 p.m. inside Reed Arena—fans are encouraged to support the team by joining the Aggie Fast Break Club and purchasing season tickets. WTAW
- ➤ The No. 9 Aggies ended their unbeaten streak when they fell 3-1 to No. 3 Kentucky at Reed Arena Wednesday evening—set scores were 21—25, 25—22, 25—15 and 27—25. WTAW
- ➤ Texas A&M quarterback Marcel Reed was named to the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award Top 25 list and has helped the Aggies start 5-0 with 1,256 passing yards, 11 touchdowns and 149 rushing yards—he ranks high in the SEC. Texas A&M will host Florida tomorrow at 6 p.m. at Kyle Field on ESPN. WTAW
