- ➤ The Brazos Valley Fair & Rodeo brought families together for a weekend full of fun as it hosted various events that engaged the local community. The Eagle
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Doglegg Golf will open a new 3,320-square-foot indoor facility in early November at Homestead Place Shopping Center in the Bryan-College Station area; local father and son owners Randy and Kyler Patton plan to offer virtual reality golf play with bay rentals starting at $35 per hour and membership packages. This venue will allow golfers of all ages and skill levels to enjoy the game rain or shine. WTAW
- ➤ Bryan-based Messina Hof Winery won three gold medals and one silver medal at the People’s Choice Wine Tasting Classic in Grapevine—34 wineries competed in the largest consumer-judged wine competition in the country. The awards were given for its Sagrantino Reserva, GSM, Angel Late Harvest Riesling, and Off Dry Riesling. WTAW

- ➤ College Station’s Benjamin Knox Gallery reopened after a year of renovations and now features a newly painted locomotive—along with a restored 120-year-old caboose used for wine tastings. The gallery also serves as an art venue, event space and academy, and is open daily from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. at 405 University Drive East. WTAW

- ➤ Spherion Bryan/College Station said Estrella Ruiz Sotelo, a 2025 graduate of International Leadership of Texas Aggieland High School, got the Sandy Mazur Excellence in Leadership Scholarship — a $5,000 award that honors her work as a leader and will help students learn and get job training. - ➤ During its September 16 board meeting, College Station ISD school board awarded a nearly $1.8 million contract to install security fences at 11 campuses and spent $166,000 on ballistic shields and breaching tools (covering all 19 campuses). It also approved $745,000 from grants and the general fund to pay for security guards at elementary and intermediate schools while sheriff’s deputies serve middle and high schools. WTAW

- ➤ The Bryan/College Station Chamber of Commerce will host its annual banquet on November 10 after President Glen Brewer announced two honorees, and Brazos County approved a $613,000 contract on October 14 to replace its old phone system that serves over 1,100 lines and aims to boost communication. These moves come as local government officials work to improve services and efficiency. WTAW
- ➤ Texas A&M soccer won 2-1 over Missouri as Bella Yakel scored a second-half penalty kick to secure the Aggies' second SEC home victory this season. Earlier on October 14, the Texas A&M Forest Service awarded 46 grants—totaling over $9.2 million—to 40 volunteer fire departments in Brazos and surrounding counties for vehicles and equipment. WTAW

- ➤ St. Joseph Health today upgraded two cardiac catheterization labs at Bryan Hospital with GE Healthcare Allia IGS systems—the Allia IGS 7 for complex heart procedures and the Allia IGS 5 for its electrophysiology program—to mark the first use of the Allia IGS 7 in Texas.
