- ➤ WTAW Radio received its second Marconi Award for small market radio programming on October 21 when the National Association of Broadcasters honored the station at its New York Show. The win added to Bryan Broadcasting’s record with seven Marconi Awards (including previous wins) and marked another milestone as the station was one of five finalists in the category. WTAW
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ At its September meeting, the College Station ISD board reported that 63% of employees joined the foundation fund campaign, generating a record $216,000 in pledges. Superintendent Tim Harkrider said administrator retention improved to over 90% from rates of 82% and 81%—a sign of progress for the district. WTAW
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ St. Joseph Health announced that it will build a new primary care facility in south College Station between Texas 6 Frontage Road and Midtown Drive—this center will serve 12 providers and open in fall. - ➤ Texas A&M’s No. 41 Ford Mustang driven by Cole Custer will race this Sunday at Martinsville Speedway in Virginia with a maroon paint job and the slogan 'Together, We stand as a Force for Good' on its hood. - ➤ Texas A&M’s women’s golf team came back from a seven-shot gap to win the Jim West Challenge by one shot over Florida State on Monday at the Kissing Tree Golf Club. Coach Gerrod Chadwell said the team’s strong finish on the last nine holes—especially a 6-under 66 round by Cayetana Fernández García-Poggio—helped them win, and they will compete next Tuesday at Baylor One Day to finish the fall season.
