- ➤ At its October 23 meeting, the College Station city council voted 5 to 1 to negotiate with developer Southern Roots to build a 3,800 seat stadium and eight fields at a new Midtown site behind Costco—shifting from approved plans at Veterans Park. The council also paused a $3.66 million drainage contract at Veterans Park while reserving additional Midtown Business Park land for business use. WTAW

- ➤ Former A&M football player Chris Larkin, who is suffering from ALS, will return to College Station on November 1 to lead Aggieland against ALS and raise money for research—an effort that aims to support those affected by the disease. The Eagle
- ➤ Former A&M tight end Chris Larkin, who is battling ALS, will return to College Station on Nov. 1 to lead Aggieland against ALS with a fundraising festival that will include a 5K run at 8:30 a.m., an awards ceremony at 10:15 a.m., a community walk at 12:30 p.m. and an Ice Bucket Challenge at 1 p.m. with over 500 participants expected to break the world record; proceeds will go to the ALS Association for research and care services.
