COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Texas A&M soccer player Sydney Fuller was named to the SEC community service team for her volunteer work with reading programs and local community projects in Aggieland — the honor recognizes her contributions both on campus and in the Bryan-College Station area. WTAW
- ➤ The College Station Noon Lions Club will celebrate its 75th anniversary Thursday night, October 30, with a program featuring community service efforts in hunger relief, childhood cancer, diabetes awareness and the environment. The club, founded in 1950 with 26 members and now having 135, will include remarks from former Lions president Dr. Patti Hill — a milestone recognized with proclamations from local officials. WTAW

- ➤ The city of Bryan has seen robust growth largely due to the impact of Texas A&M University — its influence has spurred new business investments and a boost in local development. The Eagle
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Blinn College vice chancellor of academic affairs Marcelo Bussiki, a longtime educator who started his career at the college in 2001, will retire in January; trustees approved the search for his successor at the meeting (October 21). WTAW
- ➤ College Station ISD school board will decide at its November meeting whether to allow out-of-district transfer students—based on superintendent Tim Harkrider’s proposal from an October workshop meeting. If approved, the board will review applications in December and January and announce decisions in February. WTAW
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ At its meeting on October 23, College Station city council voted 5—1 to start negotiations with Southern Roots for a baseball complex on city-owned land behind Costco in Midtown while pausing the Veterans Park stadium plan. Officials said the proposed deal may eventually support a 3,800—seat stadium and eight fields and reserve additional city land for business uses. WTAW
- ➤ BTU is starting a temporary assistance program—designed to keep lights on for federal workers affected by the shutdown—so eligible customers who show proof of furlough will avoid service disconnection. WTAW

- ➤ Breast cancer survivor Heidi Floyd shared a hopeful message at the 22nd annual Surviving & Thriving luncheon hosted by Pink Alliance, saying her faith helped her fight cancer. The Eagle
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Texas A&M women’s golf team plays its final fall tournament today in Waco at Ridgewood Country Club with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. The fourth ranked Aggies will try for their fourth win this season — tied for the second-highest in program history — as they complete 36 holes of competitive play. - ➤ Texas A&M volleyball player Ifenna Cos-Okpalla was named SEC Defensive Player of the Week after her team won road matches against LSU and Ole Miss—she reached 10 blocks, 16 kills and five aces in seven sets. She will host No. 2 Texas on Friday at Reed Arena with the first serve at 6:30 p.m. WTAW
- ➤ Texas A&M men's basketball beat Arizona State 95—88 in an exhibition game on Sunday, with Zach Clemence scoring 20 points to spark a late run. Head coach Bucky McMillan hosted his first coaches show on Monday night on WTAW. WTAW
- ➤ Texas A&M football beat LSU 49-25 with a strong second half that improved their record to 5-0, while the volleyball team swept Ole Miss 3-0 and the soccer team lost 3-0 to Kentucky on Sunday. The men's golf team won the Steelwood Collegiate Invitational, the equestrian team edged Auburn 1452-1439.5, and the swimming and diving teams outscored SMU as the men's team won 204-146 and the women's team won 209-140.
